Raha Space

Brief: Create a branded space run by Muslim founders, and provide some of the materials necessary for developing relationships with third parties, i.e., business cards and slide deck templates.

Project Specifics: The space should provide quiet, modern spaces for worship and study that do not contain imagery of living things (people, plants etc). Using motifs such as geometrics, create appropriate brand assets.

1. The Mood Board

I researched into appropriate Arabic words to use that translate well into English. I came up with ‘Raha’, and found the accurate Arabic script.

I then created a geometric pattern and motif that could be used across the assets which inspired a warm, modern feel while evoking traditional values.

Looking into spacial designs and inspiration for this, to give an idea of how the space would feel, I took a lot of inspiration from modern prayer spaces as well as the use of living plants in the study spaces. This was inspired by Iain Sinclair’s Living with Buildings which positions the need for a strong relationship between the building user’s health and the space around them. Clean, warm yellow lighting in other spaces also helps to bring a restful but lively vibe.

2. The Business Cards

Creating business cards that stand out is an absolute must for businesses that want to make impact across even the smallest of interactions while networking with potential clients.

I created this mockup of how the front and back should look, with the English spelling and main logo on the side with the necessary information - to be given to likely English speakers. The script then makes for a beautiful back of the business card, still bringing the attention back to the brand, but with an ornate, calligraphy feel.

3. The Pitch Deck

When starting out on creating a pitch deck for Raha, I wanted to create a wireframe to plan out the design and layout. I used references that were modern and corporate but still provided the necessary visual information to be a useful pitch deck.

I then drafted out a branded pitch deck
to match the vibe of the space itself, as well as the tone of how the pitch deck would be used. When being used to partner with external corporations it would provide the sense of warm, friendly professionalism.

For the slides, I used the logo as a washi tape style motif across the whole presentation, and the larger logo featuring the script appears on most slides too. None of the slides are too clustered with information, which makes it just enough to complement the verbal presentation.
